The logistics provider strengthens its collaboration with TOMRA for its entire supply chain.
GEODIS extends its cooperation with TOMRA, the German sales and service company of the Norwegian TOMRA Group and manufacturer of reverse vending systems. This includes order picking of around 50,000 parcel shipments per year. The contract, which exists since 2005, will be extended for four years.
In its warehouse in Düsseldorf, GEODIS is responsible for the coordination of logistics services such as goods receipt, storage, picking, packaging and transport. For the installation, maintenance and repair of the reverse vending systems, more than 2,000 spare parts, supplies and consumables are stored for TOMRA. GEODIS will send these to the technical service providers and customers of the food retail trade, if required.
The high degree of flexibility is one of the main reasons for the continuation of the cooperation: TOMRA especially benefits from the order control: orders can be placed until 6 pm daily at GEODIS where they are processed and dispatched by the employees on the same day. On Saturdays, there is a stand-by service, which provides urgent inquiries. In addition, GEODIS offers TOMRA the possibility to take over many special services, such as functionality testing, return processing or retrieval.
As a long-term partner, GEODIS is very familiar with process workflows and products. TOMRA for example benefits from GEODIS’ lean management approach: Process workflows are continually optimized by analyzing processes and adapting them as required. For example, processes for packaging materials have been optimized by using packages several times. In addition to the environmental aspect, this also offers a cost advantage for the customer.
"For many years now, GEODIS has been a partner at our side who handles all orders to our full satisfaction," says Daniela Pink, Head of Spare Parts Logistics at TOMRA. "The excellent lean management of GEODIS also helps us to continually optimize our processes and thus meet the needs of our customers at all times. That is why we did not hesitate to continue our cooperation. "
"Thanks to our many years of cooperation, we are able to meet the needs of TOMRA. For us, flexibility and a common understanding of optimal process workflows are the basis for a successful business model, "says Christian Meindl, member of the Executive Board Northern Europe and Director High Tech of Contract Logistics for GEODIS in Germany.
